With our help, you can make all the decisions or tell us how involved or uninvolved you want to be. You, not us, determine how to proceed.
We will make sure that all legally allowable expenses are covered. These include maternity, medical, legal, travel and other types of living expenses.
You can have an open adoption, closed adoption, or anything in between. We make sure you truly understand the differences and the pros and cons of each.
You can select the adopting family from those who we have very carefully screened. You can also tell us what you are looking for in a family and have us select the family for you.
Every family is very, very carefully screened by me personally to make sure they can provide a safe and loving home for your child. This screening includes multiple face-to-face in-person interviews with me personally, (not just by video or on the internet), references, financial and medical records, FBI and state criminal clearances, child abuse clearances, tours of their home and neighborhood and much, much more.
You can choose to get, or not get, photos, letters, and updates for the next 18 years. You can also choose whether or not to meet the adopting family now and/or in the future.
We always avoid any foster care or a temporary family. We only do a direct placement with the adopting family so that bonding can take place as soon as possible.
We provide free counseling during the process and for as long afterword as it is needed.
How We Can Help
We will help you understand the different types of adoption, the different kinds of agencies, and the problems you want to avoid. Since adoption laws in every state are different, we will make sure you understand what your rights are and those of the birth father and of your family.
We make sure your needs are taken care of and that your baby is be placed with just the right safe, secure, and loving family. We take every precaution and carefully, and fully, check out any adopting family. I (Dr. Berger) personally interview each family multiple times and we tour their home and neighborhood. We check state police records, child abuse authorities, and the FBI. We have the adopting family go through comprehensive medical check-up. We get multiple references and tax records. Any of the information we have about the adopting family can be shared with you, if you want.
For months after placement, we continue to provide the child and adopting family with supervision. Over all the years, and after all of our 900+ placements, we have never, EVER, had one of the babies/children we have placed been unloved, abused or neglected.
